Celebrate birds this Global Big Day!

Global Big Day is an annual celebration of the birds around you. Everyone is welcome to join! Wherever you are, you can take part on 9 May just by heading outside and using the Merlin app.

Last year, more than 1.7 million people joined the celebration, collectively observing over 7,900 species in a single day. Let’s make this year even bigger! You can help us set a new world record this year!

How to participate

• Enjoy birds on 9 May: It’s that simple. Your participation counts if you use the Merlin app on 9 May. Global Big Day runs from midnight to midnight in your local time zone.
• Watch the results roll in: During the day, follow along with bird observations from more than 200 countries in real-time on our Global Big Day page.
• Celebrate with others: Share what you find with us on social media with #GlobalBigDay!
